Meet Phil!

Phil is a Network Coordinator for Expert Citizens, and a firm believer that in order to create positive systems change lived experience and learned experience need walk hand in hand.

Name, or what you would prefer to be known as:

Phil Parkes

What does Power With mean to you?

Power With has become a part of my work DNA. It has helped mould the person I have become. Alongside Expert Citizens we all share that same passion and drive for actual social justice and we do so in a shared learning/knowledge environment where lived and learned experience can walk hand in hand.

What do you do at Power With?

I am almost a jack of all trades master of none within Power With. I help deliver training, I write blogs and I contribute to community discussions.

What do you bring to Power With?

I bring my lived experience and my ability to look at things through a solution focussed lens. I can look at a problem from multiple viewpoints which has so far proved beneficial in my working career.

How have you grown from being part of Power With so far?

I have had my knowledge of Co-Production greatly increased and through working alongside many of the other members my facilitation skills are improving all the time.

If you could choose one song to soundtrack your life what would it be?

A bit controversial but I would Say Busta Rhymes ft. Linkin Park – We Made It

 What is your favourite phrase?

It is very cheesy but – Nothing about us without us.

Draw yourself or something that represents you…

A Capybara!

Drawing by community member, Caroline Hadley.

I am the Network Coordinator for Expert Citizens and a Power With community member. I also work closely with the APLE collective, Staffordshire University and the Raising Voices Project. I believe that co-production is a way of life and it all stems from communication and treating people with humanity.
